Pepper, Criolla Sella (Capsicum baccatum), packet of 50 seeds, organic

The plants are short and sturdy, studded copiously with the golden-orange, thin-skinned peppers.  These are not too hot, and they have a very citrusy taste.  We eat them fresh, squeezed between the layers that make up our summer sandwiches.

Pepper, Hot Paper Lantern Habanero (Capsicum chinense), packet of 20 seeds, organic

(Hot Paper Lantern Pepper, Habanero Pepper for the North) 350,000 Scoville Heat Units  90 days from transplant to ripe peppers. Bright red, Chinese-lantern shaped peppers hang pendant from a sturdy, flat-topped bush.  I have trouble growing standard Habaneros outdoors in my zone 6, but these grew readily and produced volumes of beautiful peppers.  One caution, though, they are dangerously hot.  I have a habit of testing seeds by pinching them between my front teeth, and when I did this with a hot paper lantern seed, I ended up crying in the field!

Pepper, Jalapeno (Capsicum annuum), packet of 50 seeds, organic

Jalapenos are easy to grow and the load of fruit on the compact bushes is really a bit absurdly large for the size of the plant.  The word "overloaded" comes to mind.  The fruits are thick-skinned and blunt, fat even, and are best used for pickling and for making chile. They are pretty hot.

Pepper, Romanian Sweet (Capsicum annuum), packet of 30 seeds, organic

(Romanian Sweet Peppers)  80 days to fruits. Sweet, crunchy, yellow maturing to sunny orange, slightly elongated bell peppers on a short, squat, early bearing, and extremely prolific bush.  We found these to be a very easy grow.  Once mature, peppers are deeply aromatic, thick-fleshed, crunchy and delicious raw or cooked. We enjoyed these all summer.  They seem to be better than most things at alkalinizing the blood.

Pepper, Thai Volcano (Capsicum annuum), packet of 50 seeds, organic

( Thai Volcano Pepper, Thai Dragon Pepper )  Annual, 85 days to fruition.  Dark green, beautifully elongated and shapely leaves on a short, bushy plant, giving rise to clusters of upright peppers, bright red at maturity. Ornamental, as well as a tasty and healthful condiment.  We found these to do excellently in pots, and also grew them out in the garden with good success, finding that they could be spaced closer together than most peppers, as they stayed very compact.
