Beet, Detroit Dark Red (Beta vulgaris), packet of 50 seeds, organic

Biennial.  55 days to maturity (very fast!).  Detroit dark red produces mid- to large-sized roots, very round, intensely red.  Source of betaine, which is cleansing to the liver and will over time increase energy levels.  I have tried growing almost every beet imaginable and always come back to this one--it is the best beet.  Do not be fooled into thinking that non-red beets are as healthy as red beets.  It is the red color that may be associated with the betaine content, which gives them their anti-clotting and detoxification attributes.
