(Aji Colorado Chili Chile Pepper Peppers) ~30,000 Scoville Heat Units   Member of a relatively unknown group of peppers native to Bolivia and Peru.  Makes a fast growing, flat-topped bush 24-30” tall, loaded with ornamental flowers giving way to red, lantern-like fruits.  Medium spicy, they are fruitily delicious, fresh or dried.  Very cold resistant as a seedling and continues to produce fruits even after cold weather descends!

Rare Mexican Pepper, medium hot with an unusually dark, chocolate brown caste to the bell-like, dangling fruits.  Used mainly in making mole (recipe under "more info.")  I have worked with these in the kitchen, and the taste, color and texture they add to pepper preparations is really quite remarkable.  I put fresh peppers, including a few chilhuacle negro, in the blender, add 1 1/2 tablespoon salt, then sufficient apple cider vinegar to allow the contents to grind up in a nice vortex.  The chilhuacle make the whole preparation smooth and dark brown like chocolate!

Jalapenos are easy to grow and the load of fruit on the compact bushes is really a bit absurdly large for the size of the plant.  The word "overloaded" comes to mind.  The fruits are thick-skinned and blunt, fat even, and are best used for pickling and for making chile. They are pretty hot.

( Thai Volcano Pepper, Thai Dragon Pepper )  Annual, 85 days to fruition.  Dark green, beautifully elongated and shapely leaves on a short, bushy plant, giving rise to clusters of upright peppers, bright red at maturity. Ornamental, as well as a tasty and healthful condiment.  We found these to do excellently in pots, and also grew them out in the garden with good success, finding that they could be spaced closer together than most peppers, as they stayed very compact.
