Bulb-forming perennial native to Western and Central Europe.   Bear's Garlic figures strongly in local medicine and cuisine.  Source of the antibiotic compound thiosulphinate.  Plant thrives in rich, moist soil in the shade (much like our eastern US favorite, ramps).  Sow seeds in the fall for reliable germination in the spring.
